Ed McMahon: “I’m Rapping Up a Storm!”
Johnny Carson’s former sidekick stars in a pair of hip-hop-inspired Internet spots for FreeCreditReport.com. The videos feature McMahon, 85, in a track suit and gold bling, walking the streets of Los Angeles and rapping about his financial woes.
"I’m very proud that I have two videos now," McMahon told Usmagazine.com in an exclusive interview. "I’m rapping up a storm,"
The ad campaign comes after the TV icon married to his wife, Pamela, for 18 years publicly endured a series of financial, medical and legal difficulties including a broken neck, the near foreclosure of his Beverly Hills home and multiple lawsuits for unpaid debt.
But McMahon is bouncing back.
"I’m still working through my financial difficulties, but there’s no doubt that my wife and I will get through this," he tells Us. "And yes, we are still living in our home."
McMahons advice to others in this tough economy?
"Hard times can creep up on anyone, so always keep an eye on your own finances, live reasonably within your means and dont be afraid to ask for help," he says.
The former Star Search host admits rapping isn’t as easy as it looks.
"There’s no time to breathe," he says. "If youre a good rapper, you just start out, and you take a breath."
But he’s not ruling out releasing a full-length album of his tunes.
"I don’t see that on the horizon, but who knows, it could happen!" he says.
